Diamonds: The Hardest Known Natural Material
The Diamond is the hardest known natural material in the world.
Diamonds have incredible physical qualities. One of these qualities
is the fact that they can only be scratched by other diamonds (and
Borazon, ultrahard fullerite, or aggregated diamond nanorods.)
A diamond is usually judged by what is called "the four Cs": carat,
clarity, color, and cut.
About half of all the diamonds in the world originate from Africa.
Diamonds are usually mined from volcanic pipes which are deep in the
Earth where the high pressure and temperature enables the formation of
the crystals.
Diamonds are a unique and amazing jewel.
This is why a diamond ring is so well sought after.
